Nancy Chereskin Joins Bay Area Contracting as Business Assistant

Nancy Chereskin has joined Bay Area Contracting of Traverse City as a business assistant, providing administrative and project management support to owner Dean Adams and the company’s clients.

She has lived in Traverse City over 15 years, moving here when her husband started a small manufacturing company in the area.

Chereskin and her husband built a new home together in 2002. “It was something we had always wanted to do and I found that I really enjoyed it and was interested in the process and the selections,” Chereskin says, “Many people tell me they find the home building process stressful, but I dove in from start to finish and found it fascinating – all the little pieces that have to come together to make a home.”

Chereskin first met Adams as a neighbor. “I got to know Dean as a builder and as a person,” she says. “When we decided to build a second new home we knew that Dean would be the contractor we’d choose because of his attention to detail. He helped us through every step of the process from finding our lot on.”

When Adams had a position open up, Chereskin was ready to jump in. “Dean knew I was detail oriented and organized. I knew how busy he was and that he had a lot on his schedule I could help him with. In my role, I provide support so that Dean can focus on running the business. I handle the bookwork, the banking, schedule client meetings, appointments with suppliers, and make sure that clients have their selections made on time to expedite the building process. I love the entire approach to helping people put their dream homes together.”

Chereskin lived in Chicago and Milwaukee before moving to Traverse City in the 1990s. Trained as a pharmacist at Purdue University, she took time off to raise a family before joining Bay Area Contracting.

Bay Area Contracting is owned by Dean Adams, a northern Michigan native who began working in the building industry as a framer in 1998. He studied engineering at Grand Valley State University. After moving back to Traverse City he and his wife Tricia founded Bay Area Contracting and first entered the Parade of Homes in 2008 where they have won awards each year since. In 2010 Adams was named Distinguished Builder of the Year for 2009 by the Home Builder’s Association Grand Traverse Area and was selected for the Traverse City Business News 40 Under 40. Tricia Adams, a neonatal nurse at Munson Hospital, is involved with marketing and home design for Bay Area Contracting.
